New PCSO joins Yate policing team
Posted on Tuesday 4th May 2010 at 7:19 am by SH (Editor)A new face has joined the neighbourhood policing team for Yate.
Police Community Support Officer Gary Tilling is based at Chipping Sodbury Police Station with the existing team of PCs John Gillman and Giles Sutton and PCSOs Gareth Betts, Tony Bristow and Darren Thorn.
Gary, 41, brings more than two years’ experience in the role, as he has been working as a PCSO in Filton.
During his time there he supported the creation of a Dream Scheme project, encouraging young people to make a positive contribution to the community.
The scheme sees youngsters undertake project such as litter clearing in return for rewards like discounted access to leisure facilities, funded by donations from local businesses.
Gary also ‘adopted’ a block of flats in the town, becoming a link between the residents and police.
He said: “I’m really excited about joining the Yate team and taking on new challenges, although I’m sad to be leaving behind a community that I had got to know really well.”
Current policing priorities for Yate include tackling speeding and anti-social behaviour. Visit the police website, www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/inyourarea for details.
Anyone can raise an issue with the neighbourhood team through the website, by calling 0845 456 7000 or at the next Safer Stronger Community Group meeting at 7pm on Thursday June 3 2010 at Poole Court.
