Two arrested and motorists warned as thieves target cars (Frampton Cotterell)

Police have arrested two young men after cars were broken into in Frampton Cotterell overnight.

Officers were called at St Saviours Rise at about 1.40am today, Wednesday May 19 2010, by a resident who had spotted a group of youths trying car doors.

Police attended and searched the area, finding property including satellite navigation systems, laptops and wallets hidden in the street. Officers believe seven cars were searched by the thieves.

At around 4.45am officers arrested two young men in connection with the incident.

Two 17-year-old men remain in police custody pending further enquiries.

£10,000 reward offered for information in Iron Acton murder case

As investigations into the murder of Barry George Rubery continue three weeks on from his death, the independent charity Crimestoppers have offered a £10,000 reward to anyone providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons linked to Mr Rubery’s murder.

On Wednesday April 28 Barry George Rubery returned to his home on the Latteridge Road in Iron Acton, following a night out with friends. The following day he was found with fatal head injuries.

Detectives investigating this crime remain at the scene and have so far spoken to in excess of 400 people and have taken over 100 statements as part of the enquiry.

Over 500 exhibits have been seized, many of which are now at various forensic labs and are being tested for DNA and fingerprint evidence.

Appeal for witnesses after assault (Warmley)

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a teenager was assaulted in Warmley.

The incident occurred on 7th May 2010 at around 10.30pm on Tower Road South.

The 17-year-old victim was standing at the bus stop when he was approached by three males who repeatedly punched him in the face.

They ran off when the Number 43 bus arrived.

The victim suffered bruising and cuts to his face.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is asked to contact police on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Pucklechurch school remodelling approved

Councillors are celebrating after planning approval was granted for a major remodelling of Pucklechurch CE VC primary school.

The approved £1.72m remodelling and extension scheme will see permanent accommodation provided at the village school with construction work planned to start later in the summer.

Planning approval had been sought for the erection of three single storey extensions to form additional kitchen, administration and classroom space. The construction of 2 access ramps, proposed landscaping and new netball court also formed part of the successful planning application.
