Child car seat checks on offer at Asda (Cribbs Causeway)

Posted on Saturday 30th October 2010 at 7:43 pm by SH (Editor)

South Gloucestershire Council’s road safety team will be hosting a free educational car seat check clinic with Road Safety GB, the road safety organisation that represents over 200 local authority road safety teams across the UK.

Visit the free clinic at Asda, Cribbs Causeway on Tuesday 2nd November between 10am and 3pm to have your child car seat checked and to receive a copy of the Good Egg Guide, a colourful and informative booklet explaining everything you need to know about child car seats.

The clinic is part of the Good Egg Campaign which is designed to ensure that babies and children are properly restrained whilst travelling in the car, by showing parents and carers the correct way to fit in-car child safety seats. It is important that seats are fitted correctly because:

  • An unrestrained child can be killed in an impact with speeds as low as 5 mph
  • If properly restrained a child is three times less likely to sustain a head injury in a collision than an unrestrained child

Ice skating at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway

The Mall at Cribbs Causeway’s Winter Wonderland, the largest Christmas attraction in Bristol, will open for its seventh season on Thursday 11th November 2010.

Featuring the region’s biggest outdoor ice rink, Santa’s Castle and traditional market stalls, the Winter Wonderland will be officially opened by Father Christmas, helped by Heart Bristol’s Bush, Troy and Paulina.

Father Christmas will arrive in a traditional sleigh pulled by reindeer at 5:45pm. After the opening, visitors will be able to admire and stroke Santa’s reindeer and the ice statues, play in the ‘real’ snow and watch 13-year-old Olympic ice skating hopeful Bella Larkin in action as she officially opens the region’s largest outdoor ice rink with a short ice skating display.

The ice rink will open at 6:30pm and stay open daily throughout the Christmas and New Year season (except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). The ice rink will stay open for weekends and selected days throughout January and February 2011.
