Posted on Thursday 8th September 2011 at 8:44 am by SH (Editor)

A number of overnight road closures have been scheduled for the M32 junction 1 and Coldharbour Lane during September.

The closures take place between 8pm and 6am and form part of work to increase road capacity and improve traffic flow prior to completion of the showcase bus corridor scheme in Spring 2012.

On the M32 junction 1, the northbound slip road from the ring road onto junction 1 of the M32 will be closed on 8th, 9th, 10th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th September for resurfacing works. Temporary diversion routes will be clearly signed.

Coldharbour Lane will also be closed on 5th, 6th and 7th September for resurfacing works, again with clear temporary diversions. On 19th, 20th and 21st September there will be lane closures at Coldharbour Lane but the road will still be accessible to traffic.

Ring Road ‘priority vehicle lane’ work gets underway

Posted on Wednesday 15th September 2010 at 12:48 am by SH (Editor)

South Gloucestershire Council has started work on expanding the A4174 ring road between Filton and Hambrook.

The work is to install priority vehicle lanes on the A4174 ring road between Coldharbour Lane and the M32 junction in the West and East bound directions. These are additional lanes and will not reduce the amount of lanes to general traffic.

The work is scheduled to minimise the impact on the local road network. At peak times the amount of lanes open to general traffic will stay at two lanes, which will be slightly narrower than usual, the council will restrict wherever possible any works that reduce the number of traffic lanes on the ring road to off peak and overnight working hours. A temporary speed limit of 30mph will also be implemented during the works.

The extra road space that is being proposed to accommodate priority vehicles will also free up room in the general traffic lanes, which will ensure that all road users benefit from these major improvements.

Improvements completed at junction 1 of the M32

Posted on Wednesday 24th March 2010 at 12:34 pm by SH (Editor)

South Gloucestershire Council

Work to widen the roundabout where junction 1 of the M32 meets the A4174 Ring Road has been completed as part of the Greater Bristol Bus Network scheme.

The roundabout layout between the A4174 and the M32 has been altered to provide an additional lane for all vehicles in order to reduce congestion and speed up the flow of traffic. This means that there are now four lanes for general traffic all the way around the roundabout. The work has been carried out as part of the Greater Bristol Bus Network, a scheme to improve bus services throughout the Bristol area. As the additional lane added is for the use of all vehicles, the improvements will not only benefit the buses along the route but also general motorists.

Cllr Brian Allinson, executive member for planning, transportation and strategic environment, said: “This is a heavily congested area for all road users so these new measures will benefit everyone by adding additional highway capacity at this busy junction. The Greater Bristol Bus Network is not only about improving the local bus network but it is also aimed at improving the traffic flow for all vehicles.”

Posted on Saturday 30th January 2010 at 3:03 pm by SH (Editor)

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was deceived by an offender claiming to have her missing dog.

The victim was walking in Church Lane, Hambrook on Wednesday 13th January 2010 at around 5pm. This was the last time the dog was seen.

The owner has since put up posters offering a reward and has made numerous enquiries to try and find the animal.

On Wednesday 20th January 2010 the victim received a phone call from a man who said he had the dog. Her husband arranged to meet this man at Curtis Lane, Stoke Gifford.

The man said to put the money in a bag and leave it at a gate and that the dog would be returned if they drove up the road afterwards. They followed the instructions and the money was taken but the dog was not left.

The female dog, called Millie is a Petite Basset Griffon Vendeen.

Anyone with any information on this incident or the whereabouts of the dog is asked to contact police in Staple Hill on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police would urge anyone who receives a call from someone claiming to have their pet to report it at their local station.
