Police renew appeal on anniversary of Barry Rubery murder

Nearly on year on since the tragic death of father and grandfather Barry Rubery detectives working to locate his killers are appealing to the public for their help.

Barry, 69, was brutally attacked outside his Iron Acton home on Wednesday 28th April 2010. Detectives know he had been out with friends that evening and returned to Crossing cottage at around 10:45pm, he was found with significant head injuries the morning after.

Investigations have continued since and the family of Mr Rubery have made numerous appeals for information to locate the killers.

His daughter Julie Rubery said: “I cannot believe that nearly twelve months down the line we are still in this position, the person who took our father and the children’s grandfather from them is still out. We cannot begin to move on with our lives until we find out why this happened.”

Philip Rubery added: “We would urge anyone who has any information and has not spoken to the police to come forward and speak to them. We want to know why dad was killed so that we can try to fully move on with our lives.”

Barry Rubery murder: Grandchildren appeal for information

Six months after the tragic death of Barry Rubery his grandchildren have made an emotional appeal to bring his killers to justice.

Barry, 69, was brutally attacked outside his Iron Acton home on Wednesday 28th April this year. Detectives know he had been out with friends and returned to Crossing cottage at around 10:45pm, he was found with significant injuries the morning after.

Today his grandchildren appear in a short film featured on YouTube to appeal to anyone with information to contact police.

Grandson George Kelley said: “Losing my gramps has ripped my life apart. I can’t understand why someone would do something like this. I know people get angry but they have killed an innocent man, they are evil people.”

Teri Dee Rubery added:”Until anyone has actually been through this immense pain they will never be able to understand the amount of destruction one single act can cause. This has destroyed our lives and now we want answers. If anyone has any information we plead with you to come forward and help.”

Appeal for information on birthday of Barry Rubery

Detectives investigating the death of Barry Rubery are appealing for information on what would have been his 69th birthday (16th August).

On the evening of Wednesday 28th April, Barry George Rubery returned to his home (Crossing Cottage) on the Latteridge Road, Iron Acton following a dinner with friends. He returned to the property at around 10:45pm and was found the following morning.

He had suffered serious head injuries and his hands and legs were bound together with electrical wire.

Barry’s family should have today been celebrating his birthday at Crossing Cottage; instead they are struggling to come to terms with their loss.

His granddaughter Shauna Rubery said: “Today would have been my gramps 69th birthday.

“Birthdays are very special in our family so I would always go to see him on his birthday. He would love to see us and we would love to make his day special for him. We can’t do that anymore and that makes us all very sad.

“Please help to catch those responsible, my gramps didn’t deserve this.”

Police renew appeal for information in Barry Rubery murder case

Police have renewed their appeal for information following the murder of Barry Rubery in Iron Acton on Wednesday 28th April.

Mr Rubery was brutally killed at his Crossing Cottage home on the Latteridge Road in Iron Acton following a night out with friends.

Today (Friday 23rd July) his family are holding his funeral at Westerleigh Crematorium near Yate. Philip and Julie Rubery said: “Today is one of the most difficult days for all of the family; we simply cannot put into words how it feels say goodbye to a much loved dad, and grandad.

“To lose our father in this way is just unimaginable and our devastation is beyond belief. Everyday is a struggle, and our lives will never be the same again.

“The whole families’ lives have been turned upside down by those people who brutally took our dad from us nearly three months ago. Those people have still not come forward. We would once again urge you to hand yourselves in and allow us to understand why we lost dad in this way.

“We would also ask anyone out there who has any information to think about how hard today is for all of us and come forward. All we want now are answers to allow us to continue to grieve. Thank you”
