South Gloucestershire Council has completed a footpath which links Tytherington to Thornbury, thanks to a grant from Natural England.

The footpath, which has been well received locally, runs from Tytherington village to Thornbury town centre and provides residents with a safer pedestrian route to their local town. The new 300-metre section of path runs along Tytherington Road next to the Hanson quarry site and is the final link in the chain as the footpath has been constructed over three phases.

This final stage of the project has been completed with money from a grant from Natural England, which was secured through Defra’s Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF). Hanson, which runs the quarry at Tytherington, pays into the ALSF as a result of their local quarrying operations.
