Appeal following tyre slashing arrests (Thornbury)

Thornbury police are appealing for witnesses and information after the tyres of 26 cars were slashed.

The damage happened overnight Tuesday to Wednesday, 1st/2nd February in a number of streets near to Castle School and off Gillingstool.

Anyone with any information which could help police enquiries is asked to call police on 0845 456 7000.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident on Wednesday 2nd February. An 18-year-old man from Little Stoke and a 19-year-old from Thornbury were later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Thieves targeting builder’s vans in South Glos

Police are warning trades people to be on the alert to thieves targeting vans in South Gloucestershire and Bristol and stealing either the vehicles or tools.

Officers say the thieves, often themselves in a white Ford Transit van, are targeting vehicles at building sites or parked at builders’ merchants and large hardware stores.

The thieves have been described as white men, sometimes wearing fluorescent tabards. They are able to break into a van and make off with tools within seconds.

There have been more than 30 reported incidents in the past month in the Ashley Down, Downend, Eastville, Filton, Patchway, Sea Mills, St George and Thornbury areas, most between 8am and 2pm.

Appeal for information after vehicle is damaged (Yate)

Police in South Gloucestershire are appealing for information after a 04-plate green Ford Ranger was damaged in the car park of B&Q in Yate.

At around 3.30pm on Wednesday, May 12, the left-side wing mirror and the side panel on the vehicle were damaged.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was involved in an earlier altercation on Station Road, Yate and it’s believed that this could be linked to the damage.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed either incident. Anyone with information should contact police in Staple Hill on 0845 456 7000. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Two arrested and motorists warned as thieves target cars (Frampton Cotterell)

Police have arrested two young men after cars were broken into in Frampton Cotterell overnight.

Officers were called at St Saviours Rise at about 1.40am today, Wednesday May 19 2010, by a resident who had spotted a group of youths trying car doors.

Police attended and searched the area, finding property including satellite navigation systems, laptops and wallets hidden in the street. Officers believe seven cars were searched by the thieves.

At around 4.45am officers arrested two young men in connection with the incident.

Two 17-year-old men remain in police custody pending further enquiries.
