A4174: Plans for three more ‘throughabouts’ paused

Plans to spend £30 million on converting three more roundabouts on the A4174 Ring Road into ‘throughabouts’ have been put on hold for at least 12 months after a public consultation showed a clear majority of respondents were opposed to the scheme.

£30m A4174 improvements scheme unveiled

Commuters using the A4174 Ring Road around north-east Bristol could face three years of traffic misery after proposals for a £30m scheme of road-widening and ‘throughabouts’ were unveiled. The plans aim to tackle congestion and deter motorists from using roads through adjoining residential areas as ‘rat runs’.

Controversial ‘2+ lane’ shortened

Work to remove a controversial extension of the ‘2+ lane’ on the A4174 ring road has been completed this week after a campaign by local councillors.
