South Gloucestershire is getting ready to welcome the arrival of the 2022 AJ Bell Tour of Britain cycling race when it visits the district on Friday 9th September. Stage 6 of the race passes through Dunkirk, Horton, Chipping Sodbury and Yate before heading out towards Rangeworthy and Charfield, via Iron Acton. The lead riders are expected in Chipping Sodbury High Street shortly before 2pm.

Alderman Calway played a huge role in local government and was a local councillor, representing Longwell Green, from 1980 until 2014. He served as leader of the council between 2007 and 2014

A man is due to appear in court today (Monday 27th June) following the death of a man in Charfield on Friday night. The 46-year-old from Kidderminster has been charged with the murder of Marcus Dunkerton, of Thames Close, Charfield. The death is being linked to a prior altercation at the Railway Tavern in the village.
