National Highways has announced that the A432 Badminton Road bridge over the M4 motorway will need to remain closed for a further two years to allow the structure to be demolished and replaced. Demolition is planned for summer/autumn 2024 following work to divert utilities and it’s hoped that construction of the new bridge will be completed in 2025.

Traffic problems caused by the closure of a bridge over the M4 look set to last until at least the end of the year. National Highways closed the A432 Badminton Road overbridge on the main road between Bristol and Yate earlier this month after finding “accelerated deterioration and cracking” to the south-east underside of the structure, which was built in 1966.

The road at Latteridge Hill between Earthcott Green and Latteridge has been closed to repair a landslip. South Gloucestershire Council says the work is likely to last for six weeks.
