Four arrested over garage burglary (Thornbury)

Police in Thornbury have arrested a number of youths after a garage was broken into and a car stolen.

Officers were called to Hamble Close at about 3am on Tuesday June 29 2010 by a member of the public reporting four people acting suspiciously near a garage.

A garage had been broken into and a blue Fiat Cinquecento stolen.

Police arrested four young people nearby within minutes of the incident, and recovered the car.

A 17-year-old young man and three 16-year-olds – two boys and a girl – remain in police custody.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Louise Boyce said: “We have been targeting our patrols in the Thornbury area in response to a recent rise in thefts from sheds and garages.

“I would ask everyone to make sure their tools, bikes and other valuables stored in outbuildings are marked with their postcode and registered with the national property database www.immobilise.com.

“Marking your property deters thieves because it helps police prove that items are stolen.”
