A topping out ceremony has been held for the new children’s locality hub for the Severnvale area in Rodway Road, Patchway.
Once building work is completed in the autumn, the facility will provide a community setting where a range of vital services for children and young people and their families will be provided. Also housed on site will be a brand new library, a one stop shop, and a drop-in facility for adults with learning difficulties. The community children’s health disability team will also be based at Severnvale delivering services across the whole authority.
The Community Child Health Partnership, which is part of North Bristol NHS Trust, will be bringing a range of services to the Severnvale Hub including community paediatrics, child and adolescent mental health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.
Cllr Sheila Cook, executive member for children and young people, said: “Providing a community-based setting for a range of vital services for children and young people makes it much easier to get timely advice, help and care when it is needed. This partnership approach at the Severnvale Locality Hub will ensure that our residents can access services when it is convenient for them.”
Melanie Gibbs, Chair of NHS South Gloucestershire, said: “This is fantastic news for the people of Severnvale and another step towards our vision of reducing health inequalities by bringing services closer to where people need them. It will help professionals to work together in the most effective way, with the needs of families, children and young people as the focal point. We worked together to open a children’s hub in Yate last year, where local people are reaping the benefits and I’m looking forward to seeing the same access to services in Patchway.”
